Hope For Vision’s 20/20 Vision Campaign embodies a goal that is at once simple, inspiring and attainable: 20/20 Vision by 2020 for the millions afflicted by blinding disease

20/20 Vision is closer than ever. Recent, groundbreaking success in vision research – including the restoration of vision in human clinical trials employing gene therapies and biotechnology prosthetics –have brought cures in sight. HFV’s ability to distribute more than 95 percent of the funds it raises to innovative researchers uniquely positions it to help deliver on this promise – to make 20-20 Vision by 2020 a reality.

Campaign Goals:

• Raise $20 million to fund research directly, and to increase Hope For Vision’s capacity to generate additional research funding from private and public sources.

• Provide “20/20 Grants” to 20 up-and-coming researchers who have demonstrated records of excellence in innovative research fields that hold the promise of treatments and cures for blinding disease. These larger grants will ensure long term engagement in academic research to cure blindness by investogators who might otherwise pursue other professional paths.

• Increase HFV’s base of supporters twentyfold – enlist 100,000 advocates to join Hope For Vision’s nationwide Communities of Hope in educating families, neighbors and friends about blinding diseases and in empowering these communities to join the mission of vision.

• Make the Hope of 20/20 vision a reality for individuals afflicted by blinding disease – as quickly as the science can be funded, millions of Americans will see again and blindness will be relegated to the realm of tragic history.
